WHERE TO GO SWIMMING WITH A BABY? OR SHOULD YOU TAKE A HOTEL BREAK INSTEAD?
Being at home with a baby is a happy time, but all parents want a change from time to time in order to enrich both their and their child’s experiences. Kät, a mother on maternity leave, went to the Frost Boutique hotel on a hotel vacation. She needed a break from their everyday life and decided to go to Pärnu with the baby for a swim and a nice hotel break. We asked Kät to share her experiences.
Travelling with babies can be challenging but it may also be a fun and pleasant experience, especially when you choose a suitable destination and hotel.
Our guests arrived at our hotel on a Sunday evening and stayed here until Thursday noon. This was their conscious choice because at those times there are fewer people in the hotel and it is more quiet – an important factor for a family with a baby.
PÄRNU HAS A WIDE SELECTION OF LARGE, CROWDED HOTELS
To enjoy her privacy and some peace and quiet, Kät was looking for a smaller hotel with a pool, which would be easily accessible by foot or by car. In Pärnu there are many large hotels with pools and saunas, but Frost Hotel is the only boutique hotel in the city centre with its own sauna area and pool. So, she decided to visit Frost Boutique Hotel.
SPACIOUS ROOM IS PERFECT FOR THE BABY
After finding a suitable hotel, it was time to choose their room for the next five days. There are 14 different rooms in the hotel – larger and smaller, with a balcony, fireplace or kitchenette and suites with two bedrooms. For her stay, Kät chose our junior suite Violet. This is a spacious room that is perfect for spending time with a baby and the room is equipped with everything that is needed for a longer family vacation.
The room has a wide continental bed and if necessary, a small travel bed for babies is available by request. In this way, the child gets his own place to sleep, and the parent can comfortably stretch out in the bed and, if necessary, take the child in for a cuddle and there is still plenty of room left over in the large bed.
HIGH STANDARDS FOR THE CLEANLINESS
The hotel has set high standards for the cleanliness of the rooms – the floors are cleaned with the utmost care and biodegradable products are used for cleaning. Most of the time, babies are in your arms or in bed, but when they start to move, it’s good if the child can crawl and play on a clean floor.
On a longer holiday, it is good if you can wash your clothes at some point. And baby clothes still need to be washed all the time, no matter how much you pack! There is a washing machine in the hotel room, which makes it easy to wash your garments during a longer stay. Which means that adults too do not have to take too many clothes with them because you can wash your garments during your stay. One less thing to worry about!
The hotel has a restaurant loved by the townspeople and guests of the city – Mon Ami. But it is often more convenient to eat in peace and quiet. We have equipped several rooms in Frost Hotel with a kitchenette to enhance the customer experience of our guests. In addition to a kettle, stove and dishwasher, you will find all the essential dishes to cook the meals for your toddler and yourself. Vegetables, porridges and other baby food can be easily made into delicious meals or warmed up to feed your baby a healthy meal.
WALKS WITH A STROLLER
The hotel is located on Kuninga Street which a milieu-value area in the old town of Pärnu, therefore the hotel is built in a style that matches the atmosphere of the surroundings – Frost Hotel is a three-story, stylishly grey wooden house, inspired by the original one built at the beginning of the 18th century. There is no lift in the hotel, but the steps of the staircases are wide and not steep, which is why taking the stairs is easy. And naturally, the hotel staff is always there for you to help carry your luggage or stroller.
Off-season Pärnu is a quiet and slow-going town. Since the hotel is located in the city centre, just a walk away from parks, the beach promenade and shopping malls, it is really convenient to get around with a stroller. There are asphalt-coated pavements everywhere which allows you to walk with your child in a stroller – the stroller does not rock and the child can be in the fresh air and the parent can exercise by walking and complete their set movement goals.
IN POOL WITH THE BABY
The best time to swim with a baby is before their nap at the lunch time. At those times the relaxation area is especially quiet since the new guests have not arrived yet and the quests from the past days are checking out. The only thing Kät had to take with her was the swimming nappy for the baby and off to the pool they went.
When going to the pool with a baby, here are certain preconditions that have to be met, so that both the mother and the baby would feel comfortable. The rooms must be warm and easily accessible. The floors must be slip-proof. The pool water must also be warm for the comfort of the baby.
And these were exactly the conditions to welcome Kät and her baby at the relaxation area. At the daytime the rooms are filled with natural light and are comfortably warm. The floors are covered with natural wood which makes walking around barefoot cosy and safe due to the anti-slip properties of wood. The pool water is heated to 30 degrees, which allows to take long swims and float the baby without having to fear the sense of cold. The pool also has a function that creates pleasant massaging and relaxing bubbles but Kät decided to switch this function off to offer a pleasantly calming pool experience for her baby.
CHLORINE-FREE WATER
Kät was impressed that the pool water in the hotel pool was not purified by using chlorine but with salt instead which is natural and gentle for the body and skin. Water purified with salt is safe for health and meets the high standards and requirements established authorities.
The relaxation area is equipped with two saunas, but since Kät was travelling with a baby, she decided not to use the saunas and enjoyed the pool instead. And she did this every day. Since the enjoyable pool exhausted both the mother and the baby, it was nice to rest in the hotel room after the swim and make plans for the next day.
PLEASANT STAY AT THE HOTEL WITH A BABY
While at home with a baby, parents can experience a constant lack of time – you have to clean and then cook, day after day. When taking time off in a hotel with a child, you can really take time for yourself and only do what you really like – read, watch TV, walk, meet up with friends and sleep in. Because the experienced hotel staff will take care of serving a generous breakfast, changing the towels and cleaning the room.
Parental leave is the best time to travel with your baby and create new memories.
